The event that all the people of Messina are waiting for is back: the day of the Assumption and the Vara procession. Five hundred years of history, one of the oldest processions in Sicily, one of the most famous and ancient devotional floats existing in Europe. An event that the entire Ses Group will follow on its media and social platforms. An eight-page special on newsstands with Gazzetta del Sud on Friday 14th, with many historical curiosities about the festival loved by the people of Messina.

This year too, Rtp and Gazzettadelsud.it will follow the Vara procession, telling live the emotions of the most awaited and heartfelt religious event by the people of Messina. A long marathon that will begin tonight with the connection starting at 8.15pm for the mass under the memorial stone in Piazza Castronovo presided over by Archbishop Giovanni Accolla, preceded by the arrival of the Ceri and the sleeping Madonna, accompanied by the singing of the Ave Maria performed by the mezzo-soprano Emy Spadaro.

Day 15, connection at 5.30 pm for the procession which will wind its way from Piazza Castronovo to Piazza Duomo. A special edition, dedicated to the victims of the Pistunina tragedy and to the other road and violence victims that Messina has recorded in recent months. Before departure, the prayer dedicated to them. Upon arrival in Piazza Duomo, the prayer of Ave Maria by mezzo-soprano Emy Spadaro and the performance of “Virgini di li Virgini ab Eternu”, an ancient dialogue between Christ and alma Maria, set to music by maestro Nazzareno De Benedetto and performed by soloists Alessandro Romeo and Roberta Fazio, will precede the blessing of the city by Archbishop Accolla.

The RTP will tell you about the procession: in the studio Saro Pasciuto with the historian Giacomo Sorrenti, while the procession will be followed between the ropes by Salvatore De Maria, Francesca Stornante and Rachele Gerace. Editorial coordination is by Mauro Cucè, while technical coordination and direction are entrusted to Roberto Travia, with the technical implementation by Most Srl. The live broadcast will also be broadcast on TGS, at a regional level.
