Tension in the Caribbean waters facing Venezuela is destined to rise: the United States is in fact sending the USS Gerald Ford aircraft carrier which should arrive at its destination next week. The Washington Post reports it, explaining that the aircraft carrier is accompanied by three other warships, for a total of 4,000 soldiers on board.
Crosetto: US intervention against narcos will be very harsh
What is happening in Venezuela has a particular significance, if you went to American cities you would realize the disaster that fentanyl is having on entire generations and thousands of people. An issue that has almost become an element of social survival for America and therefore I think that in the end the intervention against drug trafficking which comes mainly from that country will be very harsh on the part of the United States.” Thus the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, comments on the news of an imminent attack by the United States on narcos in Venezuela.
Crosetto is in Naples, where he is participating with the candidate for the presidency of Campania, Edmondo Cirielli, in the presentation of the Fratelli d’Italia lists for the regional elections of 23 and 24 November.
“Of course, if drug trafficking in a country is linked to a government – says the minister – problems arise which should also be addressed at a supranational level by multilateral bodies”.
The armed forces of Trinidad and Tobago on alert
Trinidad and Tobago has placed its army on high alert, recalling troops to their posts.
This mobilization comes as the United States has been conducting air strikes on ships suspected of drug trafficking since September and as the American press reports that Washington is considering land attacks in Venezuela. News, the latter denied by President Donald Trump.
According to AFP reports, the security forces of Trinitad and Tobago – an island state in Central America in the Caribbean, located north-east of Venezuela, not far from the mainland coast – have issued an “alert level one” alarm with immediate effect, calling on everyone to report to their respective bases.
