The deputy mayor of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria Carmelo Versace carried out an inspection in the municipality of Galatro in recent days, addressing there, together with the Mayor of the municipality of Pianigiano Pino Sorbara and its administration, the problem of reclaiming the areas adjacent to the spa, an urgent intervention to be carried out in order to re-establish the correct balance with the local flora.
The Thermal Baths have always represented, not only for Galatro, but for the entire metropolitan area, an undoubted center of interest and aggregation, both as a driving force for tourist, economic and social development, and for the natural beauty and charm that characterizes them , and, last but not least, for the important health and healing aspect that makes this site not only a beautiful and important center but also a necessary one for all that audience of users who can benefit from spa treatments.
“Unfortunately, the right attention has not always been given to the villages of our territory – said the deputy mayor Carmelo Versace – and an important institution like the Metropolitan City can no longer wait for other bodies to take care of things pertaining to them. The deputy mayor’s visit then continued at the spa complex, a resource that deserves to be valorised for the reasons expressed by Versace himself, hoping for targeted investments, to be planned over time also according to the wishes of Galatra and the municipal administration in order to fully exploit the potential.
During the meeting with the territorial administrators, we also discussed making the village accessible by paying attention to the provincial roads pertaining to the Municipality of Galatro and its related signs.
The fruitful meeting on both sides defined a roadmap which will see a new meeting over the next few weeks to verify whether the planned interventions have been carried out regularly for an area which has not benefited from the right attention for too long.
