“The municipal administration is not leaving anything of intended, doing everything in its power to face, and resolve in the shortest possible time, the problems that have revealed themselves in recent weeks”. This is stated by the mayor of Vibo Valentia, Enzo Romeowho has this morning Two distinct letters signed to submit the case of the dirty sea to the attention of the competent bodiesdenounced by many citizens especially in the last weekend, and that of wild boarswhich have been spotted for weeks now within the inhabited center of Vibo Valentia.
Dirty sea
On the subject, the mayor addressed his letter to the Prefecture, to the Calabria Region – Environment Department, the Arpacal and the Coast Guard, as well as to the mayors of the coastal municipalities: Pizzo, Briatico, Parghelia, Zambrone, Tropea, Ricadi, Nicotera. “The conditions of the sea cannot become a brake on the development of this seaside season – adds the first citizen – and it is necessary to frame the problem in a wider perspective, which cannot be limited to the simple boundaries of a Municipality. We must act together, and for this reason I considered it appropriate to convene a programmatic conference involving all the authorities concerned, in order to agree on extraordinary initiatives aimed at finding solutions for the problem.
Wild boar emergency
Regarding the guardian question, the mayor Romeo sent a letter to the president of the region Roberto Occhiuto and to the president of the province Corrado L’Edolina, also putting the prefecture aware, soliciting an urgent intervention. After recalling how the phenomenon “has now taken on the characters of the transversal emergency, constituting a real public, health and environmental security problem”, and underlined how ungulates approach citizens and homes, the mayor of Vibo Valentia, also required “containment actions that should be coordinated and programmed in a wide range, at least at the provincial level, affecting the competent ATC”.
