On the evening of 1 October, staff from the General Prevention and Public Relief Office of the Vibo Valentia Police Headquarters arrested a man, resident in the municipality of Vibo, held responsible for the crime of possession of narcotic substances for the purpose of dealing.
The intervention began around 6.35 pm, when a Volante crew, passing along Corso Umberto I, noticed two people intent on pulling each other. One of those present drew the attention of the operators, reporting that he had attempted to detain the man who, at the sight of the patrol, was apparently trying to get rid of an envelope that he was about to give to another person present on the scene.
The officers then carried out an immediate check of the indicated area, finding a cellophane bag containing five wrappers near a low wall: three with hashish, for a total net weight of 2.7 grams, and two with marijuana, for a total of 2.3 grams.
The investigations continued with a search of the man’s home. Inside the building, the operators found further quantities of narcotic substance: approximately 25 grams of hashish hidden under an armchair and over 24 grams of marijuana hidden inside a container, as well as several doses already prepared and material used for cutting and packaging.
Overall, also considering the substance recovered shortly before on the street, the activity allowed the seizure of approximately 57.5 grams of narcotic substances, of which 29.9 grams of hashish and 27.6 grams of marijuana
In light of the information acquired, the man, already burdened by previous convictions for specific crimes, was arrested in flagrante delicto.
Subsequently, the GIP validated the arrest and, accepting the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Vibo Valentia, applied the measure of the residence ban in the Municipality of Vibo Valentia against the suspect, with the consequent obligation to leave the municipal territory.
The operation is part of the activity of controlling the territory and combating the spread of narcotic substances carried out daily by the State Police, with particular attention to the most frequented areas of the city.
