At the final whistle from referee Giordani of Aprilia, the joy and emotion of the players, technical staff and managers of Vibonese erupted. The home victory in the playout against Acireale is worth a desired salvation, sought tooth and nail at the end of an incredibly troubled season. But in the end all that mattered was winning and Mr. Fanello’s team (the third and last coach who arrived in the running a few months ago) brought the ship to port by winning 1-0 thanks to a goal from Carnevale (one of the few veterans on the pitch from the summer transfer market together with Caiazza and captain Di Gilio). It was a beautiful red and blue Sunday with the city and a good part of the surrounding area joining together to cheer in this last act of the season. Now it’s time to celebrate staying in Serie D, then from tomorrow we’ll think about the future.
