Villafranca, a turning point that accelerates the project of the new seafront

Redevelopment of the seafront and containment of coastal erosion in Villafranca Tirrena. The long-awaited and ambitious project, worth 13 million and 500 thousand euros, is an ever closer goal. Another step was in fact overcome with the release of the Paur (Single regional authorization provision) by the Territory and Environment department. The important act includes all the opinions issued after the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) decree. «Step by step we are moving towards the next step which is the validation and verification of the definitive project by the Office of the Regional Commissioner – declares the mayor Giuseppe Cavallaro -. After which it will close with the tight deadline of the executive design, which however does not require modifications or many additions as no critical issues have emerged. Therefore – adds the mayor of Villafranche – we are confident that this can happen quickly”. During the services conference, in close synergy with the Rup, the engineer Alfredo Russo, Cavallaro highlighted some critical issues to take into consideration in the project. In particular in relation to the problem of water flow at the intersection with via Zizzo, in the area corresponding to via San Giuseppe Calasanzio (heavily affected by meteorological events, which often lead to the closure of the seafront with flooding) and in the urban spaces of the Arenile, Graziella Campagna and Marina squares.
