The regional deputy Antonio De Luca, group leader at the ARS of the 5 Star Movement, has sent a letter to the prefect of Messina Cosima Di Stani and to the police commissioner of the city of the Strait, Annino Gargano, to ask to extend the police presence inside the Papardo Hospital to the night hours. “The incidences of assault in hospital facilities are becoming more and more frequent and, in recent weeks, worrying episodes of violence have occurred at the Papardo Hospital. While recognizing the indisputable value of the Police presence already activated during the day, I now believe it is necessary to extend this activity also at night, in order to respond to the safety needs of the health personnel who constantly work in a climate of fear and of the patients. During the night – explains the Hon. Antonio De Luca – the personnel is more exposed to acts of violence and aggression, especially in facilities, such as that of Papardo, which are located in more peripheral contexts and, therefore, less easily reachable by the patrols ordinarily in service”.
“I hope that my request will be positively accepted by Prefect Di Stani and Police Chief Gargano, to prevent and combat these episodes of violence that unfortunately are occurring with greater frequency and intensity,” concludes the deputy from Messina.
