The decisive management of the Giallorossi game this year will also depend on the expert hands, especially used to higher tournaments, of the 30-year-old setter Chiara Scacchetti from Reggio Emilia. A veteran of seven years in A2, but with important experiences also in A1, Chiara will take over – it is appropriate to say – the Giallorossi roster, also by virtue of the designation as team captain. So Chiara, let’s start with the captain’s armband: what does it mean for you?
“First of all I want to thank the club and the staff for giving me this role, which I will try to honor as best I can. It is an important position for me because, as I have always said, I came to Vibo for an ambitious and important project for my career. The responsibility that has been given to me pushes me, even more, to be a point of reference for my teammates and to do the job for which I was called to the best of my ability, with dedication and commitment.”
We start tomorrow with the away match in the province of Frosinone: in your opinion, what are the pitfalls against the freshman, like you, Assitec, who in recent years has also attended the A2, albeit without too much luck?
“We have studied this opponent on video and they are certainly a good team. These are certainly the first matches, so today we are still working to find the best harmony. It will be important first of all to work further to grow as a team, and then with the instructions of coach Saja we will plan the work to be done tomorrow well, with unscrupulousness and courage.”
Pre-season with several certainly useful tests: where are you at?
“We are working hard as is right, being a new team, to find the best mix. And in any case the progress is visible from training to training. I think we still have a lot of room for improvement, because the qualities of the players are high and above all the work proposed allows us to refine our qualities and improve. We will do our best to fit these qualities together, and thus show good volleyball. We have played various important friendlies, with high and lows which allowed us to understand the points where we need to improve and above all to know this category better.”
After more than a month in the Callipo-universe: tell us how you are finding yourself and settling in?
“I am settling in very well here. I was very surprised, obviously in a positive way, by the attention and care that the club offers to us players, allowing us to think solely about the work on the pitch. I knew that kindness and hospitality would not be lacking, but I must say that experiencing it and realizing it in person was very special. Here you can breathe healthy values, which I was looking for and after the visit to the company a few days ago I understood even more that, behind great society, there are companies, in this case Tonno Callipo, that make their employees live these values, and all of this is a privilege. I’m happy with this initial period, but even more so that we can get serious and – concludes Scacchetti – finally play for our goals with courage.”
