The Sicilian Region has allocated over 150 million euros for the financing of Projects for the improvement of water services and purification of waste water. The water and waste department of the Energy Department has issued public notices for the presentation of projects to be financed with resources to be worth on the Pr-Festa Sicilia 2021/27. The notice for the presentation of projects relating to the realization of extraction, treatment, storage and distribution and supply of drinking water, water efficiency measures amounts to 47 million. The invitations are mainly addressed to the ATI (Sicily territorial territorial assemblies of Sicily and to the foster managers of the integrated water service. The second provides for an allocation of 109 million euros and is intended for interventions on the system of collection and treatment of waste water. The goal is the demolition of energy consumption in the purification phase through the implementation of interventions that increase the energy efficiency of the systems. The foster managers of the integrated water service operating in the optimal territorial areas can respond to the public invitation.

The protection of the environment through the improvement of water and purification services is a collective effort in which the Region is doing its part, even with this huge funding “.
Public notices have also been published for the granting of concessions for the support of the “proximity composting” activities of organic waste and for the realization and enhancement of the municipal collection centers. The measures are signed by the General Manager of the Acqua and Waste Department of the Energy Department and provide for a total allocation of 48 million euros to apply to the resources allocated on the Pr-Festa Sicilia 2021/2027. “These acts – said the commissioner Roberto Di Mauro – are functional to the region’s strategy to break down the quantities of waste launched in landfills and which will culminate with the creation of thermovalists. Through the financing of the interventions to be carried out on the territories we support the efforts of the municipalities and the management of the management of the collection or recycling services, helping to promote good practices that will transform into evident environmental benefits, but also economic “. The notices are aimed at the entities that administer the areas operational or, where these do not exist, also associated with the municipalities. The first provides for an allocation of 15 million euros for the financing of projects that allow the reduction of the production of waste by intercepting the organic fraction of small communities through the installation of composting plants of potential up to 130 tons per year. The second announcement has a financial availability of 33 million euros. The goal is the creation of a network of waste collection centers calibrated on the characteristics and needs of the territories. The deadline for sending the requests to the PEC address of the water and waste department is set in 90 days from the date of publication in Gurs of the notices, scheduled for next week.
