A 53-year-old from Messina was arrested by the Carabinieri for “detention for the purpose of dealing drugs” and “illegal possession of weapons”.
The arrest was carried out by the Carabinieri of the Messina Bordonaro station and the Operational Unit of the Messina Sud Company, as part of the extraordinary territorial control services set up to coincide with public holidays and weekends.
The military paid attention to the man, who had already been noticed for a few days for some suspicious behavior he had adopted. Subjected to a search in his home and in a warehouse he had in the “Bordonaro Superiore” area, a total of almost 1,900 grams of cocaine were found, approximately 650 grams of heroin, 750 grams of hashish, 220 grams of marijuana and various material for the packaging of the aforementioned substances, as well as a 12 gauge pump-action shotgun with abraded serial number, 5 shot cartridges of the same caliber and almost 17,000 euros in cash of various denominations, probably believed to be the proceeds of the hypothesized criminal activities.
The Carabinieri of the RIS of Messina will now carry out all the technical checks necessary to ascertain not only the exact type and origin of the drugs, but above all the origin of the weapon and its possible previous use for the commission of other crimes.
At the end of the formalities, the 53-year-old was taken to the Messina prison, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
