The Pediatric UOC of the San Giovanni Paolo II hospital, as a center belonging to the Italian Company for Infanti respiratory diseases (Simri), will host, tomorrow 20 Mayan Open Day dedicated to World Asma Day, offering free clinical evaluations, spirometries and educational material to children starting from 6 years of age, until the available places are exhausted.
The event is part of the activities for the activities for World Asma Day, established in 1998 by the Global Initiative for Asthma (Gina) and remembered every first Tuesday of May. This year’s theme is ‘Make Inhaled Treatments Accessible for all’, with the aim of Promote universal accessibility to inhalation treatments, fundamental for the management of asthma. The initiative promoted by Simri in collaboration with other scientific societies, including the Italian Society of Pediatrics (SIP), aims to raise awareness of citizenship regarding an important pathology of pediatric age.
Asthma is the most common chronic disease in pediatric age and represents one of the main causes of absence from school. It affects about 1 in 10 children in western countries and, if not adequately treated, can affect the respiratory health and quality of life of the child.
