«“Accarezzame” is a reflection on love, on feeling, on education in feeling, through the Neapolitan song», explained director Perri. «The songs – he added – they will be interspersed with my reflections on what love is, what power it has on the human soul and its different facets. Neapolitan songs make everyone agree because they are one of the cornerstones of Italian culture, they are identifying, they are part of our cultural identity: the new generations should be educated to listen to them to acquire awareness of a repertoire that has strongly marked the history of Italy. This is the reason why I chose the path of Neapolitan music, if I had stopped only at the theme of love, I would have had a wide choice from De Andrè to Mina, to Gino Paoli, but I instead wanted to enhance Neapolitan music, because it represents us more, it is our Southern world».
«With “Accarezzame” the Festival audience will listen to timeless songs for voice, piano, guitar and orchestra with unpublished arrangements and transcriptions by the composer and director of the Giacomantonio Conservatory of Cosenza, Francesco Perri – underlined the artistic director of the Autumn Festival Antonietta Santacroce – The Brutia Symphony Orchestra pays homage to Neapolitan music by proposing the most beautiful songs written from the 16th century to today, alternating arrangements with unpublished rewrites of original songs. It will be an unmissable event for all lovers of the traditional Neapolitan song that has made this city famous throughout the world. A culture that belongs to us and that we want to spread to also underline our identity and our pride as Southern people».
