Expand some SEZ measures to the entire national territory? The idea is there, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni revealed it in her parliamentary speech a few days ago. And it could be implemented soon, in the work package in view of May 1st. The government’s interest would be particularly aroused by the simplification measures of the Special Zone. The resources chapter would currently be extraneous to this enlargement for two reasons: on the one hand, the funds already allocated diluted across a national audience would become small change, on the other, this does not seem to be the best period to increase the SEZ allocation, with an economic crisis whose developments are still an unknown.
But what would all this mean for Calabria and the South? What repercussions should be expected, not so much from the transition to the ordinary of a so far extraordinary measure, but from the expansion of the range of territories competing to attract investments?
