They made use of the right to remain silent in front of the investigating judge of Rome the two 20-year-olds, arrested for the murder of Caterina Ciurleo, the 81-year-old originally from Reggio Calabria, killed by mistake with a gunshot during a shootout in via della Riserva Nuova, in eastern Rome, on May 23rd. The preliminary hearing was held this morning in Regina Coeli prison. The two – a 24-year-old of Romanian origins and a 23-year-old of Peruvian origins – arrested after investigations by the Flying Squad, coordinated by the DDA prosecutor Carlo Villani, are charged with murder and attempted murder.
The victim, hit by mistake, was sitting in the passenger side of a Smart car driven by a friend when she was hit by a bullet fired from a moving car that then fled the scene: the bullet passed through the trunk of the small car and then the seat.
