Cosenza, Loizzo restarts the high speed train: «Don’t worry, Caruso: the money is there»

High speed in Calabria remains an uncertain geographical expression, a great work transformed into a hunting trophy, between necessity and functionality. Franz Carusowho placed himself at the head of a technical-political committee, in recent days, from Rome, had launched the challenge to minister Matteo Salvini: “The money for the work is no longer there”.
And, then, the Northern League deputy thinks to sweep away all doubts, Simona Loizzo: «I reassure the mayor of Cosenza: the money for the Salerno-Reggio Calabria high speed line is there and available. Caruso knows that building the Strait Bridge, which would be the most important European infrastructure, would make no sense without high speed. Minister Salvini maintained the over 9 billion euros committed to the trade which was the only thing he could do as he did not have direct powers over the modulation of the funds. I accept Caruso’s appeal as a proactive stimulus to urge RFI to activate the tender procedures for the construction of the work. Just as I remember it the government has committed enormous resources to the electrification of the Ionian line and to the internal connections connected to high speed. Obviously, I am always available for productive and qualitative dialogue for anything that favors the development of our region. I remember, however, that the construction of the Bridge brings with it a series of chain interventions that will increase transport in Calabria. I am not saying heresies if I say that after Giacomo Mancini, the greatest of our politicians, Calabria has not experienced overall and substantial investments which are a reality today and which certainly must be made in the short term”.
