The big Sicilians of bus transports have not lost the game. The business that for decades have been controlled by the national and European giants that, on the eve of the races, seemed ready for the drop in Sicily, did not let themselves be blown. Instead the sections that the region made up to auction in summer yesterday went, in one way or another, to those who have always managed them. Sicilian companies were enough to consort each other to regain the market for another 9 years. And in the end it was not even a real auction, given that big names such as Flixbus (the most feared) gave up presenting an offer. Everything therefore remains as before, or almost.
The race
In August the transport department, led by Alessandro Aricò, He published a announcement that divided the connections on buses of all of Sicily into four lots. Yesterday the official assignment was made to the winners. In practice, to shield compared to the possible advance of non -Sicilian companies, the regional giants have consorted themselves by participating not as individual companies but as associations of companies in tenders for the 4 lots within which they had so far been almost monopolist.
