From Tuesday 25 February it will be possible to submit the application to request the one -off -term contribution to up to 5 thousand euros intended for families in difficulty residing in Sicily. The decree of the Regional Department of Family and Social Policies was published this morning which makes the measure of the “poverty income” active and which establishes the timing and assignment criteria. There are 30 million euros available. The disbursement will take place through the IRFIS, in charge of the management of the fund. Applications may be submitted until April 15, 2025 exclusively online on the dedicated platform which will be activated in the next few days by the regional financial. The selection will take place on the basis of economic and social criteria, with priority to the nuclei with minors, people in situations of discomfort and monogenial families.
“This contribution – underlines the president of the Region Renato Schifani, who strongly wanted the provision – represents help for Sicilian families who live in conditions of economic difficulties, guaranteeing immediate support to face the essential expenses. Our goal is to provide tangible help to the most vulnerable people, so that no one feels abandoned in such a delicate moment. We know that the increase in the cost of living, combined with working difficulties, is putting many families in crisis, for this reason we wanted to make this measure accessible in the simplest way, through an intuitive online platform and with the support of a dedicated call center . This intervention is not only financial support, but a signal of closeness by regional institutions. We will continue to work to identify structural solutions that can guarantee greater economic and social stability to Sicilian families. Our commitment is clear: nobody should be left behind ».
The contribution will be able to access the subjects residing in Sicily for at least five years, with ISEE relating to the year 2023 of less than 5 thousand euros. A ranking will be drawn up based on the score assigned to the applicant family and the economic contribution will be paid according to the following bands: 5,000 euros over 30 points, 3,500 euros up to 30 points and 2,500 euros up to 20 points. As for income criteria, the maximum score (10 points) will be given to those who have an ISEE between 0 and 1,500 euros; up to 3,500 euros, 8 points will be assigned, while 6 points to those who have an ISEE up to 5,000 euros.
Other points will be disbursed based on the family situation: 1 point for each component up to a maximum of 9 points for families beyond the 8 components. Two additional points will be given for each minor child. Living for rent will be worth more 5 points, while 8 points will go to those who live a condition of social unease as being a mother girl, a woman victim of violence or widow with children. With the same score, the family unit will be preferred with multiple minor children, in the case of further equality, the one with social unease will be preferred. The beneficiaries of the fund will be intended for socially useful activities, taking into account their psycho-physical state, based on understanding with the municipalities of residence.
