The EU changes industrial policies: for Calabria only unknowns

In a complex and delicate geopolitical phase like the current one Calabria risks becoming the classic crock pot between iron vessels. The reorganization of European funds, with the inclusion of expenses for the defense sector, and the push for the strengthening of industrial policies – topic disappeared for decades by the Italian debate – could in fact be taken by surprise what is one of the most fragile regions of the South.
As regards the investments in defense, linked to the new specific objectives within the ERDF, the EU allows the Member States to reprogram the sums intended for investments and employment to improve the production capabilities of companies in the sector: In this field Calabria certainly does not seem to be among the bridge heads. Also on the infrastructure level connected to this area there are many unknowns: the EU Commission, with proposal of 24 April last, encourages states to transfer the ERDF resources towards the strengthening of European corridors for military mobility. Is the Region part of these European corridors?
