A fire threatened the parish church of San Bartolomeo in the historic center of Rossano last Sunday afternoon. A excited afternoon, between sirens and fear. The flames have lapped the perimeter walls of the structure that stands out throughout the neighborhood and which fortunately was not affected by the fire. This is also thanks to the prompt intervention of the firefighters of the Corigliano Rossano detachment. A fire that developed in two phases and that caused alarm and concern in the residents of the populous tunnel neighborhood. The fire started from an area rich in vegetation and shrubs, completely uncultivated and not subjected to cleaning, as the summer period requires, precisely in order to avoid fires of this type, which often start from a banal outbreak and then turn into terrible bonfires. The flames, even pushed by a slight breeze, soon took vigor and they propagated in a short time, coming to produce high languages of fire visible also from the area below the church. The area in question is the one between the Traforo square and the above area on which the church stands, just near the provincial road 188 which leads to the Rossanese hilly area.
