The first two calls were presented this morning for the assignment of energy redevelopment and logistics of Comalca which refer to the intervention plan which will lead to the complete redevelopment of the only wholesale in the wholesale of Calabria. An ambitious project, with a total value of about 10ml of euros, entirely financed through the national recovery and resilience plan (PNRR), as part of the M2C1 mission – Investment 2.1 “Logistics development for agri -food sectors, fishing and aquaculture, silviculture, floriculture and nursery”.
The initiative, called “Comalca innovative and sustainable market for the development of the local supply chain”, represents a strategic intervention not only for the capital city but for the entire Calabria region, called to equip itself with a modern, digitized, sustainable and fully inserted structure in the dynamics of the ecological transition and circular economy.
During the press conference, the details of the first two public tenders were illustrated, already published by the Municipality of Catanzaro – as a single contracting station on the delegation of Comalca – and with the expiry set to next July 21.
The first announcement is to entrust the work of energy efficiency and reduction of the environmental impact: a contract with a value of approximately 2.9 million euros, intended for the installation of photovoltaic systems, the efficiency of consumption and the creation of energy self -sufficient spaces. The second is dedicated to the logistical improvement of the market: with a value of 2.2 million euros, it provides for the reorganization of the internal roads, the creation of efficient loading and unloading areas and the introduction of solutions of “Last-Mile Delivery” solutions with zero impact.
In the coming months, further tenders relating to the digitization of management procedures will follow, the promotion of zero km products, the reduction of waste and the social enhancement of food surpluses. The goal is to close all the construction sites by 30 June 2026, in line with the Milestone provided for by the PNRR and without risk of disengagement of resources.

Alongside the structural interventions, an important digitalization path will take shape, which will create a digital network, capable of anticipating consumption and productions, thanks to an advanced predictive system. A project capable of generating value, promoting innovation and contributing concretely to the sustainable development of our land ». The project assumes a particularly relevant value not only for the extent of the interventions – which embrace crucial sectors such as energy, logistics, digitization and territorial promotion – but also for the governance model adopted, which sees the Municipality of Catanzaro active in the operational implementation and in the management of public procedures, according to the new provisions of the contract code.

We therefore greet the start of these works that are added to the many who, as a municipal administration, currently we have on the field. For us, this with Comalca is the first experience of carrying out by third parties of public evidence procedures through the contracting authority of the Municipality of Catanzaro, after the latter has become first level, both for the works and for the services and supplies. We also please us to be able to confirm, with this occasion, the strategic relationship that exists between our administration and the Comalca itself which is a participatory body and is, in its field of activity, the largest reality in Calabria. Finally, not to be underestimated on a more general level, that the quality leap in our contracting authority connotes us as a municipality and this makes us proud but also constitutes a concrete possibility of increasing revenue for the services rendered by the municipal administration»Added the mayor of Catanzaro, Nicola Fiorita.
Satisfaction for the work carried out by Comalca was expressed by a majority member of the market, the Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro, Crotone and Vibo Valentia, represented at the press conference by Marco Napolichamber councilor and member of the Comalca board of directors: “We are extremely satisfied and proud of the achievement of this objective: thanks, in fact, to the financing of the PNRR it will be possible to make the market to feed a reference not only in Calabria but throughout the South of Italy. The important investments that derive from this loan will make the market increasingly usable and increasingly logistically accessible to all stakeholders».
Comalca proposes itself as a laboratory of innovation and sustainability of the Calabrian agri -food, with targeted interventions not only to the modernization of infrastructures, but also to the promotion of local products, to the creation of synergies with local businesses and social inclusion. An initiative that strengthens the central role of Catanzaro in regional logistics and launches a strong signal on the ability of the Calabrian institutions to implement effective public, transparent and vision policies.
