This was announced by the Ligurian tennis player in a press conference organized in Wimbledon. “It is something I already had in my head and I talked about it with my family. The first week in Wimbledon was demanding and I didn’t have much time to reflect, but I think this is the best way to say goodbye”, they are the first words pronounced by the former number 9 in the world during the conference. “I love this sport and the motivation is still high, tennis has accompanied me throughout my life and will continue to do so. I have many good memories that I keep in my heart, something special. This day, however, I knew it would arrive,” Fognini admitted, back from the defeat against Carlos Alcaraz in Wimbledon. “My dream would have been to end up in Montecarlo, this was the goal, but life is like that.
