“The new oncology department is not only infrastructure progress, but a human milestone: it offers oncological patients and their families not only high quality care but also a point of reference that gives hope and trust. This result has been made possible by the generosity and determination of the community, of a collective effort that also involved associations and institutions. Precisely among these people who have started this long, incorrect and solid. Becoming reality, there is Dr. Giovanni Condemi, primary of the UOC of Oncology, who in the middle of his functions has prematurely disappeared leaving an unbridgeable void “.
This was said by the Councilor for Labor and Professional Training of the Calabria Region, Giovanni Calabreseintervening at the title of the new Oncology Department of the Locri hospital in the primary Condemi, promoter of the Nole project, new Locri Epizefiri oncology, also born thanks to the decisive support from the Angela Serra Association.
“The Nole project – continued the Calabrian councilor – collected the meaning and will of the common feeling of the whole hospital community and Locrese, welcomed by the Region thanks to the sensitivity of President Roberto Occhiuto, and by the general director of the ASP of Reggio Calabria, Lucia di Furia. It is a project that embodies the values of solidarity and shared commitment, demonstrating how the collaboration can transform an ambitious dream into a concrete reality. Department represents a symbol of rebirth for the Calabrian health system, demonstrating how important it is to invest in excellent health services, especially in often marginalized territories.
The Region is investing a lot for the health of Locride, the junta in 2023 has allocated 500 thousand euros to complete this project, and 46 million euros were identified for the Spoke hospital.
We owe all this to the citizens of the territory, we owe it to Giovanni Condemi that with his stubbornness, the caring professionalism and sensitivity towards his patients allowed the achievement of this goal: he believed it, he supported many battles, he never pulled back so that this dream could become reality. For his sacrifice, for love and concern towards his patients, for the determination and courage, now that he is no longer among us, the only way to be able to say to him thanks is to dedicate the department to him with the title in his memory.
