The Horcynus Festival returns which this year crosses the milestone of the XXIII Edizioni and has as its theme “Utopias, dystopias, eutopias”. The event, which will take place from 25 July to 11 August And he has the artistic direction of Franco Jannuzzi and Giacomo Farina, he will be hosted, as usual, at the Horcynus Orca Park of Capo Peloro. The 2025 edition proposes a rich and articulated program and, in a global context increasingly characterized by processes of climate change and economic, social and recognition inequalities that are now overcoming that proximity threshold necessary for any hypothesis of economic and human development, the HF is placed as a complex re-compliance space of the knowledge, capable of accompanying “visions” and necessary processes of transformation of the economic-social paradigms, energy, technological and governance of the territories.
Place of research of possible metamorphosis, therefore, towards a more “beautiful” and possible future, precisely “eutopic”, to escape the “dystopias” of tomorrow which, sometimes, appears inescapable and without taking refuge in the search for ideological “utopias”, perhaps inhuman, and certainly impossible. The Horcynus Festivalmore and more consciously path of “complexity”, festival of “intertwining”, of “intersections” and, in its different joints, lab, social and education-scientific-cultural emergency and dissemination that accompanies life, evolution and internationalization process of the evolved social district in the different territories in which it develops.
The HF2025 will open on Friday 25 July at 18 in the name of music with the second edition of the Pelorias Sea Sound, a concert by Tuma Records starring Magikaaaaaarp, Vick, Newma, Afrodream, Killabeat Maker. “New and significant event of the Festival is represented by the ‘Design Week’, called the Jurnate of the Design. An international caliber event that represents a call for all creatives who see the design as a tool for social transformation and not only as an aesthetic practice. Already last May the main actors of the Mediterranean met in Messina to co-design and launch a fund of Venture Philanthropy for local systemic development, For the territories of the Mare Nostrum.
Central, like every year, will be the section of projections “Archipelaghi della Vision”, enriched by the Spanish and Latin American Film Festival, as well as that taken from the Berlin Film Festival Archive and an international review linked to the theme 2025. Also this year two awards that symbolize how much the Festival believes in the indissoluble union between art and care of people: Carlos Saura for the cinema and Franco Basaglia and Franco Basaglia and Franco Basaglia and Franco Rotelli for the social. During the summer session, the international “design center” will be launched at the service of the productions and educational programs of the district with the numerous guests who traditionally crowd the Festival.
The Horcynus Festival is created by the Horcynus Orca Foundation and the Messina Foundation and, over the years, with the support of: Mic, Sicilian Region, Tourism, Sport and Entertainment Department, Sicily Film Commission, University of Messina, Municipality of Messina, Metropolitan City of Messina, ATM – Messina Transport Company, Social Company with children.
