The reconstruction

The two abbot friends had been having lunch together in a farmhouse in Messina. The accident happened on the way back. Once they reached Timpazzi on SS 113, the 34-year-old lost control of the BMW which tore up several meters of guard rail and crashed into a tree. Giorgio Pagano died instantly and the fire brigade had to intervene to extract him from the car. The commander of the municipal police Giovanni Giardina and the 118 ambulances were on site. There was no sign of braking on the asphalt, the BMW, according to initial investigations, was proceeding at a high speed. Some important aspects remain to be clarified on which the accident section of the Municipal Police directed by Chief Inspector Giovanni Arizzi is working. A fundamental aspect is given by the psychophysical conditions of the man who was driving the BMW. The 34-year-old, assisted by the lawyer Giovanni Mannuccia, was subjected to toxicological tests to establish whether he had taken alcohol or drugs before driving. The results will be known in the next few hours. Massa S. Giorgio now waits to be able to say goodbye to Giorgio Pagano. His family, assisted by the lawyer Salvatore Silvestro, is well known in the ancient village. In addition to managing a bar, he was a sort of entertainer for the young people of the village. On Saturday evening he was expected in the square where he had organized an evening of dancing and karaoke.
