«We felt it was our duty to bring together the regional leadership of the Sicilian Democratic Party in Niscemi to demonstrate the closeness of the entire party and its leaders to the Niscemi community». Thus the regional secretary of the Sicily PD, Anthony Barbagallo, in his report during the regional direction of the party, underway in Niscemi (Caltanissetta).
The secretary spoke «of yet another scandal which this time involved the regional health supermanager Salvatore Iacolino. The person identified by Schifani for the management of Cyclone Harry’s resources, Duilio Alongi, based on published interceptions – he added – appears to have had a decisive role in Teresi’s extension of service. We are in the presence of a distorted search for consensus by those in positions of power. This is why we reiterate that Schifani must go home.”
Barbagallo recalled that the centre-left coalition will present itself compactly in the 5 most populous municipalities voting, namely Messina, Marsala, Agrigento, Augusta and Termini. Furthermore, at a regional level, with a view to building an increasingly broad alliance, the secretary specified that he «continues to consider South and North as an interlocutor. In view of the regional and political elections we are called to increasingly define the contours of the coalition, which must be characterized by discontinuity in ideas and government proposals. Once the perimeter has been defined, the method of choosing the presidential candidate will count, which – he concluded – must be shared with the entire coalition. I reiterate that we are the Democratic Party and the first method of choice we have in the statute is that of the primaries.”
