Moments of tension and hope in the afternoon in Schiavonea (Cosenza), where a dog was saved after being stuck for days between the large boulders of the port embankment.

The alarm was raised when a local resident, who had been taking care of the animal for some time, noticed his prolonged absence. The dog had not been seen for about four days, making people fear the worst. The searches led to the dramatic discovery: the animal was stuck between the rocks, unable to move.

A team of the Fire Brigade from the Cosenza Command, Rossano detachment, intervened on site, supported by the Port Authority and the Local Police. The rescue operations immediately proved to be complex, due to the difficult shape of the area and the position in which the dog had been trapped.

To free him, a joint intervention was necessary which also involved a private company. Thanks to the use of a mechanical vehicle, the rescuers were able to move the heavy boulders and create a safe passage to reach the animal.

After hours of work, the most awaited moment arrived: the dog was recovered alive. Immediately entrusted to the care of a veterinarian, he was then taken into care by the SOS 4 Zampe and Animal Protection association, which will take care of his custody and recovery.

A story with a happy ending that tells not only the fragility of stray animals, but also the daily commitment of those who intervene to save them. Once again, the Fire Brigade demonstrated how rescue knows no boundaries, not even when a silent life is in danger.
