Vladimir Solovyov, one of the most well-known faces of Russian state TV and for years considered one of the most aggressive interpreters of the Kremlin line, today attacked Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during her Telegram program “Polnyj Kontakt”.
Born in Moscow in 1963, Solovyov is one of the most recognizable figures in Russia’s pro-government media apparatus. Brussels and London included him in the lists of sanctioned personalities as early as February 2022, defining him as a propagandist. Presenter of Russia-1 and Rossia 24, he was accused of “extreme hostility towards Ukraine” and support for the aggressive policies of the Russian government.
His notoriety in Italy had grown after the seizure, as part of European measures against Russian personalities close to the Kremlin, of properties on Lake Como with a total value of around 8 million euros. He recently also lashed out live against blogger Victoria Bonya, targeting him with personal and misogynistic insults.
