International call-up for Kevin Cannavò, previously called up by the Malta national team for the friendlies against Slovakia and Azerbaijan. The Maltese national team, directed by the Italian coach Emilio De Leo, will face the team of Skriniar and Lobotka on Monday 1 June (6pm) and, subsequently, the Azerbaijanis on Friday 5 (8pm). However, the footballer is close to saying goodbye. Cosenza will not exercise the right of redemption that former sporting director Fabio Lupo secured last summer.
The Sicilian winger was one of the elements strongly desired by Buscè at the dawn of the season. The rossoblù, to satisfy the Neapolitan coach’s request, completed a detailed negotiation with Venezia, a club that had previously taken him from Vis Pesaro. Number seven Bruzio moved to the Crati bank with the loan formula which was also linked to a right of redemption set at 700 thousand euros. Furthermore, on that occasion the lagoon company had guaranteed itself a percentage of 10% in the event of a future resale by the team of president Eugenio Guarascio.
Cannavò’s performance was positive but the costs of the operation are very high to proceed with the acquisition of the player’s card. With Venezia, with whom the 26-year-old wildcard has a contract until 2028, a dialogue could have been opened to establish new economic parameters but in this period of calm around Via Conforti all discussions are frozen and today it seems highly unlikely that the player born in Partinico can continue to wear the rossoblù shirt also in the next championship. In all likelihood he will return to the Lagoon and then decide his future over the summer.
With four goals in thirty-six games, the winger was an important piece for Buscè, who used him in different positions on the pitch. In the phases in which the Campania coach used the three-man defence, he also acted as a full-range slider. Since Cimino’s injury onwards, however, he has found space above all as a right back, coming into trouble in very few circumstances.
