Changes to railway traffic on the weekends of 23-24 May, 6-7 June and on 21 June on the Palermo-Messina line to allow for scheduled works between the stations of Sant’Agata Militello and Tusa.

To guarantee continuity of service and limit inconvenience to travellers, Trenitalia Regionale has remodeled the offer by providing a replacement bus service between Tusa and Messina and between Sant’Agata Militello and Palermo.

Intercity and Intercity Notte are also involved

The changes will also affect some Intercity and Intercity Night trains between Messina and Palermo, which will be replaced with buses on 22, 23 and 24 May and 5, 6, 7, 20 and 21 June.

Trenitalia highlights that bus travel times could also increase in relation to road traffic and that available seats could be fewer than the normal train service.

Directions for travellers

Only folding bicycles will be allowed on buses. However, the transport of other types of bikes or electric micromobility vehicles will not be permitted. Only the transport of guide dogs is permitted.

Travelers are invited to consult, close to departure, the Trenitalia information channels and the communications sent via email or SMS to customers who have purchased a regional digital ticket.

The purchasing channels are already updated with the expected changes. Detailed information will be available in the Infomobility section of the Trenitalia website and through the Smart Caring service of the official App.
