The first significant data arrive from the polls for the election of the new mayor of Castrovillari, outlining a fragmented political picture but with very precise balances. Projections see the centre-right candidate making a clear leap forward, even if the game seems far from over in the first round.
Candidates’ results
At the moment, the situation sees Anna De Gaio in the lead, supported by the centre-right coalition, which leads her opponents, positioning herself at 41.3% of the preferences. A solid performance, which however does not yet guarantee her immediate victory (set at the threshold of 50% plus one of the votes).
In second position is Ernesto Bello, leading the coalition formed by the Democratic Party and centre-left civic bodies, which garners 30.26%. Bello seems to be the most accredited candidate to challenge De Gaio in a possible second round.
However, the figure of Luca Donadio, supported by other centre-left Civic lists, remains very close, obtaining a significant 26.17%. A result that splits the electorate of the progressive area and which will be decisive in the next few hours to understand future movements and alliances.
Eugenio Salerno, representative of the identitarian right (Destra), closes the count, stopping at 2.28%.
The scenarios: towards the second round
The fragmentation of the center-left between Ernesto Bello and Luca Donadio (who together exceed 56% of the votes) has effectively paved the way for the partial primacy of Anna De Gaio.
If the data is definitively confirmed, Castrovillari will prepare for two weeks of intense electoral campaign in view of the run-off. In this scenario, the real key will be the management of Luca Donadio’s votes: a possible alliance or natural transfer of preferences towards Ernesto Bello could overturn the final outcome, making the race for the mayor’s seat a challenge to the last vote.
