Melangela Scolaro is the new mayor of Barcelona, at the end of a thrilling challenge, with 40.45%. Barbera remained at 39.83%. With a turnout that stopped at 66.86% (recording -1.13% compared to the previous round, when it settled at 67.99%), the challenge of the city of Longano experienced a crazy head-to-head. Bongiovanni closed with a substantial gap at 18.72%.
De Luca: “We performed a miracle in Barcelona”
Great happiness during the night with Scolaro embraced by Cateno De Luca: “In Barcelona we performed a miracle – they said – We dismantled a system, a battleship like that of the centre-right. They started from 70% – said De Luca – and instead we won in the first round. I’m sincere, I was convinced that we would have won in the run-off, but the first round is incredible. Won’t we have a majority in the Council? I governed in Messina with zero councillors. But then the credibility of an administrator makes things change things”.
