Already around 4.30 pm the cars of Anna Gaio’s supporters had crossed the threshold of superstition and started honking. The gap in the runoff between the centre-right candidate from Castrovillarese and Ernesto Bello gradually consolidated and, section after section, the candidate nibbled on something of her competitor, until the definitive victory 5850 (53.97%). Anna De Gaio (53%) is the first mayor of the municipality of Pollino. Bello just exceeded 46%, with 4990 preferences.
The new Council
Anna De Gaio will lead, for the next 5 years, a real young-veterans mix. With Pierluigi Abenante (potential vice mayor), there will be Davide Mirone, Rossella Maltese (FI); Dario D’atri and Giovanna D’Ingianna; Alessandra Andriello and Giancarlo Lamensa (FDI); Franco Dolce of Azione Cittadina and Onofrio Massarotti (Together for Castrovillari), then Federica Cama of Noi Moderati. The opposition will be represented by Ernesto Bello, Vincenzo Covucci, Rosa Saraceni, Luca Donadio, the regional councilor Ferdinando Laghi and Melania Spinicci of the civic center. (ang.bis.)
