A malicious fire damaged two work vehicles inside an active construction site in the municipality of Cosoleto, in the Tyrrhenian Aspromonte. The building contractor Pietro Nocera, administrator of the Costruire Group, involved in the construction of the white water collection network, reported the incident to the police.
According to what is reported in the complaint, the flames affected a Yanmar excavator and a Bobcat present in the construction site area. The alarm would have been triggered during the night thanks to the satellite system installed on one of the vehicles, which reported an anomaly to the operations center.
The complaint and investigations
The police are investigating the incident, called to reconstruct the dynamics of the fire and identify any culprits.
In the complaint presented to investigators, Nocera stated that he had not recently received threats or extortion requests related to the work in progress. The entrepreneur, however, recalled that he had already been the victim of intimidating episodes in the past, including burning company vehicles and extortion attempts.
The investigations are now aimed at clarifying the context in which the new episode occurred and at verifying any connections with previous acts of intimidation suffered by the entrepreneur.
