There are threads to tie up, loose ends to pick up on, relationships to reconnect. The three months in which Federico Basile remained without the tricolor sash – because he himself had left it to relaunch it on the election table – did not pass in vain, but they were still three months without a mayor. And if on the one hand the political choices to be made in the city, starting from the long-awaited (however complicated) appointments of the councilors in the council, can wait, other appointments should not be delayed. So tomorrow and the day after tomorrow Basile will make his first trip to Rome as mayor “bis”, for a series of meetings that will fill an already busy agenda and which could be further enriched.
In the capital the first stop will be the Anci, the National Association of Italian Municipalities, where the Housing Plan will be discussed. In recent weeks, the ANCI had formulated its proposals for amendments to the “Housing Plan” decree-law, transmitting them to the Environment Commission of the Chamber, focusing in particular on urban regeneration, the role of the Municipalities and the administrative capacity of local authorities. Issues on which even the mayor of Messina, given the centrality of housing policies in our city, wants to understand more.

Another appointment has been set, the one with RFI, to resume the threads of a discussion started (complete with signed minutes) in recent months, before Basile’s resignation. The main topic is the Piccola Velocita area of via Santa Cecilia, the one in which, so to speak, the Basile administration intends to create version 2.0 of the famous I-Hub, complete with an agreement with the State Property Agency on the path that will lead to a design competition. Basile wants to test the waters, with the top management of Ferrovie, on a possible partnership for co-working interventions, therefore not limiting the agreement to a simple transfer of the areas.
