No election of the president and vice president of the city council in the inaugural session tomorrow morning. The absence of a newly elected member, councilor Maria Magliarditi of the “Cambiamente” group, will not allow voting to proceed in compliance with the provisions of the law. Therefore the assembly will meet as per the convocation, but it will only be possible to proceed with the institutional obligations: from the oath of the elected councilors to the verification of the conditions of eligibility and compatibility, passing through the acknowledgment of the composition of the assembly and the other preliminary obligations that mark the establishment of the new council body.
However, as mentioned, the point relating to the election of the president of the municipal council and his deputy will not be addressed. Despite the postponement, however, the picture already appears quite clear. For the presidency of the City Council, the name destined to gain the consensus of the majority is that of Angelo Maimone (Forza Italia), while for the vice-presidency the most accredited candidacy remains that of Lydia Russo, elected in the municipality near Midili, “Milazzo 2026”. Barring last-minute surprises, or any changes to the political agreements, this should be the solution that will be formalized in the next session.
