Yesterday evening, the manager of Sector 11 of Palazzo dei Bruzi, Antonella Rino, based above all on the report of the engineer Salvatore Modesto, director of public works, signed the suspension of the concession linked to the “Marulla” stadium, which will therefore remain closed starting from 17 August, coinciding with the planned redevelopment works.
Now there remains the issue linked to the authorization. Will it come anyway? The June 16th deadline for registering for the Serie C championship is upon us. In the last few hours, the meeting of the Provincial Committee for public order and safety took place in the Prefecture, convened to address the delicate issue linked to the use of the “Marulla” stadium during the execution of the redevelopment works planned on the facility. The meeting was attended by Mayor Caruso and the Event Management Delegate of Cosenza Calcio, Falsetti.
The confrontation continued beyond 8.30pm. On the table was the technical report prepared by the municipal manager Salvatore Modesto, in which the possible solutions to allow the use of the system during the construction site were analysed. Among the hypotheses taken into consideration was the total suspension of sporting activity within the stadium and, consequently, of the agreement governing the use of the “Marulla” by Cosenza.
Suspension which arrived, as mentioned, with the signature of the municipal manager Rino, after having therefore evaluated the administrative and technical aspects linked to the continuation of sporting activity in the city stadium.
The Cosenza dge reported that the summit produced confirmation of the usability of the facility for a capacity of approximately 21 thousand spectators. A statement from the Municipality is expected in the next few hours.
Meanwhile, the news has spread from the Strait according to which Cosenza has made a request to play the home matches of the next championship in Messina. A solution that will have to be evaluated by the Peloritana administration and the Prefecture due to the inevitable implications related to public order.
Between federal deadlines, infrastructural issues and an always tense relationship with the fans, the climate remains full of questions for the Sila club.
