‘Hear The Yellow’ by Banu Sivaci wins at the 72nd edition of the Taormina Film Festival, winning best film, director and best male and female actor, respectively Süleyman Kadim Kabaali and Selva Erdener. The latter award is shared ex aequo by Greta Scarano, protagonist of ‘Piccolo miracolò by Guido Chiesa.
Best emerging actor was Tut Nyuot for ‘Animol’, while best emerging actress was Berfin Sönmez for ‘Gropiusstadt Supernovà.
The Youth Campus of the 72nd Taormina Film Festival, made up of around three hundred students and twenty-five young jurors, formed thanks to the collaboration with Anec Sicilia and Agis Sicilia, awarded the Cariddino d’Oro to Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die by Gore Verbinski. Cariddino d’Oro – Special Mention instead to Piccolo Miracolo by Guido Chiesa. Finally, the Arca Enel jury awarded the Arca Prize to the best short film out of competition to Fili Invisibili by Fabio Schifilliti.
The protagonist of the Turkish drama ‘Hear The Yellow’ by Banu Sivaci is Suna, a musician who returns to her native village with the intention of extracting a confession from Bekir, a patient suffering from dementia who she suspects of having killed her sister.
Meanwhile, the unexpected bond she forms with Bekir’s rebellious daughter, Fidan, will bring Suna closer to her family and force her to face the darkness she carries inside.
The jury consisted of New Zealand director Jane Campion, actress Holly Hunter, Oscar-nominated costume designer Miyako Bellizzi, casting director Francine Maisler, British-Nigerian filmmaker Akinola Davies Jr., Head of Global Marketing, Film, Series and Brand at Amazon MGM Studios Sue Kroll and actor and director Pietro Castellitto.
