One of the events dedicated to the creativity and artistic expression of the new generations is back. The Il Sileno Scientific-Cultural Association and the Istituto Comprensivo Rende Centro–San Fili have announced the awards ceremony for the third edition of the artistic-literary competition “Geographies of the Heart”, an initiative which over the years has established itself as an opportunity to valorise the local youth talents.

After the success of previous editions, the competition proposed the theme “Lins of Peace” for the 2025-2026 school year, inviting male and female students to reflect on the value of peace, coexistence, mutual respect and the harmonious relationship with nature through writing, art and photography.

The ceremony at the Museum of the Present

The appointment is scheduled for Wednesday 24 June at 5pm in the Tokyo Room of the Museo del Presente in Rende. The event will be divided into two moments: the first dedicated to the Poetry, Fiction, Illustration, Comics and Photography sections of the lower secondary school in the province of Cosenza, with the awarding of the winning works and those selected for publication; the second reserved for the Illustration section of primary school, limited to fifth grades.

The chosen works were collected in a volume published by Il Sileno Edizioni with the contribution of the Istituto Comprensivo Rende Centro–San Fili and with the patronage of the GeoRiskEcoLab Research Center of the eCampus University. The book collects the students’ works and represents a testimony of the creative and educational path developed within the competition.

The interventions and the educational value of the initiative

The ceremony will be attended by the head teacher of the Istituto Comprensivo Rende Centro–San Fili, Antonella Gravina, the editorial director of Il Sileno Edizioni, Francesco De Pascale, the artistic director of Geografie del Cuore, Maria Todaro, the scholar Maria Elena Noce, the journalist of the Gazzetta del Sud Vittorio Scarpelli and the Rai journalist Michele Cervo. The members of the examining commission will also be present, made up of experts from the world of culture, art, school and research.

The initiative aims to give space to the reflections of the new generations and to enhance their expressive capacity, through a discussion on the themes of peace, inclusion and solidarity, at the center of this year’s edition.
