Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani will be in Reggio Calabria today to speak at 5 pm at Palazzo Alvaro at the press conference to present the next Conference of Scientific and Space Attachés and Agricultural Experts.
The last conference took place in Naples in 2025. This year’s edition will focus on frontier technologies, from artificial intelligence to quantum technologies, as well as space and agri-food, and will include a segment dedicated to start-ups. The choice of Calabria to host this event is linked to the high specialization of its universities in the field of new technologies: from the Mediterranean University to the Magna Græcia University, up to the University of Calabria which contributed to the drafting of the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. The protagonists of the next conference will be the fifty Scientific Attachés operating in the Italian Embassies around the world, in the Representations at international bodies and in the Consulates: 12 in the Americas, 5 in Africa, 10 in Asia, 20 in Europe and 3 in the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Scientific diplomacy is a pillar of the Farnesina’s action in support of growth: in this context, the potential of the territories of Southern Italy will be valorised, with their investments in research, innovation and technological transfer
