The thirteen repechage applications presented in recent days were a first alarm bell for Messina’s hopes of regaining Serie D. Registration for the next fourth series tournament also closed today and out of 161 interested clubs, 159 have submitted applications.

The excluded companies and the next steps

In addition to Foggia, readmitted to Serie C, and Rimini (failed), Lazio’s Valmontone, who has filed an express waiver, and Sora, who did not submit the application, will not be there.

The Co.Vi.So.D control is now expected, the response of which is expected by July 17th. The supervisory commission will also express its opinion on any appeals presented by 2pm on 23 July.

The last step in temporal order – before the final passage to the Board of Directors of the LND – is July 28, the deadline by which Co.Vi.So.D will provide reasoned opinions on the proposed appeals.

For Messina the repechage is increasingly difficult

There are, therefore, only 3 places available, insufficient to guarantee the repechage also for Messina. According to a provisional and unofficial ranking, in fact, the Peloritan club would only be eighth and, therefore, forced to play the Excellence tournament.

The registered teams

The two representatives of the province, Igea Virtus and Milazzo, also regularly submitted applications for registration, as did the other Sicilians, Nissa, Athletic Palermo, CastrumFavara, Ragusa, Trapani, Siracusa, Gela, Enna (in the balance until a few hours before the deadline expires) and the newly promoted Modica, Licata and Avola.

In Calabria, however, Reggina, Sambiase, Vigor Lamezia, Vibonese and the freshman Praia Tortora are registered.
