The proclamation ceremony of the 14 elected to the Metropolitan Council of Reggio Calabria was held this evening at Palazzo Alvaro, in the presence of the Mayor, the Honorable Francesco Cannizzaro, and the members of the electoral commission.
Pasquale Brizzi, Marco Caruso, Chiara Luccisano, Domenico Maio, Francesco Malara, Fiorentino Riganò, Gianpietro Scarfò, Giovanni Verduci, Roberto Vizzari, Pierpaolo Zavettieri, Vittoria Luciano, Domenico Mantegna, Alessandro Repaci and Carmelo Versace: a highly representative Assembly of the entire territory, no longer Reggio-centric, which will have the task of implementing important and strategic choices for development of the entire metropolitan area, as well as of the City.
The words of the metropolitan mayor Francesco Cannizzaro
“I am very satisfied to have managed, once again, to achieve what I promised – said the Metropolitan Mayor Cannizzaro – because during the election campaign I announced that I would create the conditions so that the entire metropolitan area could be best represented by the administrators and so it was. Tonight we proclaim the new Metropolitan Council made up of members who represent all the areas of the territory”.
The Mayor then expressed great satisfaction and thanked all the mayors and administrators who participated with great commitment in these second level elections, with a particular nod to the passive electorate who “proposed itself as a point of reference for the administrators of the province, forming quality and competent lists”.
“Today I am particularly happy – continued Cannizzaro – because a competent, quality Metropolitan Council has presented itself, with new entries of depth, but also with more expert elements. A perfect mix that will help me to raise the name and history of Reggio Calabria Metropolitan City. I often repeat that I would like to go down in history as the best mayor of the city… Well, I would also like to be remembered as a metropolitan mayor who gave a lot to the rest of the territory, not just to the main reality. I believe that, with the great competence of these councilors, we will be able to give answers to the citizens, the mayors, to all the administrators, who expect a lot from the newly elected team”.
The immediate convocation of the first Metropolitan Council
Finally, Mayor Cannizzaro renewed his commitment: “I will work every day, hard, so as not to disappoint expectations. Today is a day of celebration, but between now and the next few hours I will immediately convene the first metropolitan council, without wasting even a day of time, because we cannot afford it. We will work in a determined manner – he concluded – to make what I will never stop defining as the most beautiful metropolitan city in the world flourish again!”.
