An evening of music and lightheartedness transformed into a ring for futile reasons, with too many glasses, pushes and punches thrown in the middle of the crowd.
In Catanzaro, the authorities crack down on violence in nightlife venues: the Police Commissioner has issued five bans on access to urban areas (DACUR), the prevention measure known in the news as “Daspo Willy”, against as many Italian citizens deemed socially dangerous.
The recipients of the measure are five men aged between 21 and 48, residing in the municipalities of Zagarise and Sellia Marina. The facts date back to a widely publicized and crowded musical event, organized inside a well-known public venue in Sellia Marina.
According to what was reconstructed by investigators from the Sellia Marina Carabinieri Station, the five – in a clear state of psychophysical alteration due to excess alcohol – started a violent brawl inside the business. The intervention of the military was providential but not simple: the brawl between several contenders was quelled only with considerable difficulty, restoring calm amidst the general alarm of those present. All the participants were subsequently reported at liberty to the Judicial Authority for the crime of brawling.
Considering the seriousness of the conduct and the obvious danger to public safety and social order, the Police Headquarters decided to use an iron fist. The DACUR will prohibit the five subjects, for a period of one year, from accessing and even staying in the immediate vicinity of all public businesses and places of public entertainment located in the entire municipal territory of Sellia Marina.
