The spotlight of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival turns on the promises of the big screen, the history of journalism and environmental sustainability on the occasion of the Nations Awards Thinkingreen 20th edition spin-off Venice. The event, scheduled for Thursday 3 and Friday 4 September in the Music Hall of the Hotel Ca’ Sagredo in Venice, ancient residence of the Doge Nicolò Sagredo, represents the prestigious lagoon extension of the event which takes place annually at the Teatro Antico in Taormina, and which last June celebrated the important milestone of the twentieth edition: the actresses Tatiana Luter and Noemi Brando, the editorial team of TG2 for its 50 years and the painter Mauro Drudi and the half century of the film “Taxi Driver” will be celebrated, among the masterpieces of Martin Scorsese with Robert De Niro; the godmother and ambassador of the Award will be the international model and actress Madalina Ghenea.
Tatiana Luter is an Italian-American actress who grew up between Europe and the United States and has collaborated with directors of the caliber of Paolo Sorrentino, Francis Ford Coppola and Gabriele Muccino. In 2024 he attracted international attention by starring alongside Al Pacino in the historical drama “Maserati: The Brothers,” due out this fall. He is currently on the set in Rome of the psychological thriller “Bunnyman” with James Franco and Giancarlo Giannini. She is also active in environmental advocacy, having co-directed a short film against environmental crimes with the non-profit Earth League International.
Noemi Brando, a 24-year-old Venetian actress, is considered one of the most promising and versatile emerging talents of contemporary Italian cinema. With a background in competitive tennis, he successfully embarked on the path of acting, training with renowned directors. She came to the attention of the general public and critics thanks to her intense performances in internationally successful Netflix productions, including the series “Supersex” and the film “Sei nell’anima” dedicated to the life of Gianna Nannini. His artistic career continues in strong growth with the films “L’amor fuggente” and “Audrey la mer”.

A moment of absolute importance is that of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of TG2 directed by Antonio Preziosi, officially born on 15 March 1976 following the historic Rai reform of 1975: the special prize to the newspaper that created the celebratory documentary “TG2: 50 years of news”, with the signature of Rai Documentari. The work retraces half a century of investigations, reports and social transformations in Italy and the world through exclusive images and interviews with great faces of entertainment and culture. For visual art, the painter Mauro Drudi will be awarded, an artist known for his chromatic and figurative research with a strong emotional impact. The Nations Awards – Thinkingreen take place under the patronage of the European Parliament and the Sicilian Region; among the partners FS Engineering and Bottega and the Venetian Hoteliers Association.
The usual lounge – talk on sustainability will be held on Friday 4th: opening the proceedings will be Simone Venturini (Mayor of the Metropolitan City of Venice), Dario Lo Bosco (CEO of FS Engineering); Daniele Minotto (director of the Venetian Hoteliers Association); institutional greetings will be from the Undersecretary of State for Culture Giampiero Cannella (confirmation awaited). Followed by the panel “Sustainable rail road transport” on the new prospects for national tourism as an added value of the territories, moderated by the chief editor of “Il Gazzettino” of Venice Davide Scalzotto, with interventions by Irene Gionfriddo (Director of foreign commercial development and sustainability FS Engineering – FF.SS. Group), Ettore De Cesbron de la Granellais (Head of the ANAS Veneto Territorial structure) and Ezio Micelli (Ordinary Economics and business management – University of Venice); the panel “Water resources management models”: a close discussion which will see Andrea Razzini (General Director of Veritas SpA) as speakers; Paolo Pavan (UNIVE Professor of Chemistry); the entrepreneur Sandro Bottega and the economist Giuseppe Mongiello; the conclusions entrusted to Francesco Colianni (Councillor for Energy and Public Utilities of the Sicilian Region). This last panel will be moderated by Maurizio Scaglione, director of IlSicilia, who will receive a special prize for journalism.
