The State Police arrested a Bangladeshi citizen in Crotone, internationally wanted, for the purposes of extradition to Albania for the crimes of aiding illegal immigration and for falsification of documents. The agents of the Flying Squad, after investigations coordinated by the Service for International Police Cooperation, ascertained that the man was subject to a precautionary measure issued in 2024 by the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime. The checks also revealed that the man had submitted a request for international protection at the Crotone Police Headquarters. After the formalities, the Bangladeshi citizen was accompanied to prison and made available to the judicial authorities. The operation is part, explains a note from the Crotone Police Headquarters, of a broader service which sees State Police agents engaged in combating illicit activities aimed at encouraging illegal immigration.
