The Barilla Group is reconfiguring its industrial structure in Southern Italy by announcing the birth of an integrated pasta hub in Foggia, where a new generation mill will be built. The project, a one hundred million euro investment that will take shape between 2028 and 2030, will generate new jobs and make the Apulian site one of the group’s strategic hubs, with improvements in terms of sustainability, logistical and production efficiency serving the Italian market and international markets. The concentration of activities in the new Foggia hub will allow the Group to redefine the role of some production sites in the South, also through the entry of industrial partners capable of guaranteeing their continuity and supporting their development. In this context, the proposals presented by Pastificio Liguori SpA for the acquisition of the Marcianise (Caserta) plant and by Molino Casillo SpA for the Altamura (Bari) and Castelplanio (Ancona) mills are at an advanced stage of negotiation.
For both operations, the Barilla Group considers employment continuity for all the people involved as a “fundamental prerequisite”. Today, the Barilla Group started the process of discussion with the trade unions on the contents of the industrial plan. Liguori and Casillo expressed their availability and desire to preserve the production continuity of the sites involved, protecting employment and skills present in their respective territories and ensuring new development prospects in the long term. Furthermore, production destined for the Barilla Group will continue to be produced at the same sites, on the basis of multi-year supply contracts with the purchasing companies.
