The ruling of the Patti Court in the “Nebrodi 2” maxi trial is expected this afternoon, the second line of the investigation into the use of European funds for the agricultural sector by organized crime. At 11.07am the panel chaired by Monica Marino, with judges Eugenio Aliquò and Gianluca Corona, retired to the council chamber, making an appointment no earlier than 4pm for the reading of the device. Last June, the public prosecution, represented by the deputies of the Messina DDA Francesco Massara and Marco Accolla, had requested, we recall, sentences of almost 500 years in prison in total, 5 acquittals and a series of financial sanctions for the 5 companies involved. The defenders’ arguments continued throughout the summer and therefore the postponement to this morning’s hearing in which the prosecutor Francesco Massara had requested a postponement to Monday in light of the filing by a defender of a sentence relating to a proceeding for fraud of one of the defendants, concluded at the Court of Caltagirone with the statute of limitations. Request for postponement rejected by the panel also in light of technical difficulties in adjourning the hearing, rejecting in any case the documentary production proposed by the defence.
