«Dating? There are, of course. But we are still only at the beginning.” This is how the centre-right describes the current political situation, which looks ahead to the next elections. Few have released official statements so far, but none too “demanding” for the coalition itself. With the exception of the exchange on the next municipal elections, in these columns, between Forza Italia councilor Sergio Costanzo and the vice-president of the Region and Northern League representative, Filippo Mancuso, no one else has spoken about concrete prospects.
The first frontier to look at should be the provincial elections scheduled for the end of the year: an amendment to the Public Administration decree, however, should radically change the scenario. In fact, a continuation of the mandate of President Amedeo Mormile (Lega), elected in 2022 in the challenge won against the then new mayor Nicola Fiorita, is looming, until the expiry of the Provincial Council which came out of the polls in recent months: the new end of the mandate would therefore be that of March 2028, even if Mormile, whose term of office expires as mayor of Soveria Simeri next year, will have to be reconfirmed as head of the Municipality in order to maintain the presidency of the intermediate body.
