The Politeama Theater welcomed Alessandro Barbero with extraordinary warmth. And Alessandro Barbero did not betray the expectations of an audience – those who came to the Tre Colli from all over the region – who had already sparked the hunt for tickets the day after the announcement of his show in the regional capital. The show dedicated to Saint Francis, following the publication of his book published by Laterza in which the historian retraces the life (the well-known and especially the lesser-known one of the saint), thus filled the Politeama, just as there was great participation in the traditional “copy signing”. Before, however, going on stage at the Catanzaro theatre, Barbero met the press. Among the questions, the one on the possibility that the professor, after Saint Francis of Assisi, could dedicate himself to the narration of Saint Francis of Paola: «But guys – he replied – books take years to write. If I were to make a book about a great Calabrian character, it would be about Gioacchino da Fiore. But I don’t promise anything.” And the one who ironically tried to steal from him the secret of his success with a wide and transversal audience to which Barbero replied with equal irony: «It’s just that I’m very good!», he said with a smile.
