The long preparation of the ACR Messina girls continues in view of the start of the competitive season. The first official match should have been a few weeks ago, that of the regional Italian Cup against Alpha Sport San Gregorio, but the double challenge was canceled due to the withdrawal of the Etna teams and the consequent passage of the Peloritana team, who will face the highly rated Aluntina on Sunday (6.30 pm) at home. Meanwhile, Lnd Sicilia has announced the composition and formula of the Promotion championship, which will see the Giallorossi at the starting line. They were included in group B, together with Aluntina, Vittoria, Atletico Megara, Nebrodi Cst, and Melilli. However, the other group includes: Club Palermo, Partinico, Easy Sport Caltanissetta, Gela, Lercara and Trapani.
The opening day is set for Sunday 15 November, when the biancoscudate will host Melilli at the “Giovanni Celeste” stadium. The long-awaited derby with Aluntina is scheduled for the fourth day (first leg on 13 December in San Marco d’Alunzio and return on 14 February in Messina). The regular season will end on February 21, 2027 with the halfway point expected on December 20. The ACR has set up a competitive staff, which aims to move up the category and enhance the value of the nursery. «The girls are training with the necessary commitment – declares coach Roberto Smedile – and can’t wait to play a match that puts the three points up for grabs. The group is a mix of young people and more experienced footballers, but, as always, it will be the pitch that will give the truthful answers. What goal have we set ourselves? Doing well and giving ourselves satisfaction, helping the athletes in the youth sector grow in the best possible way, some of whom are already an integral part of the squad.”
